They work across your entire workspace, making it easy to find related content no matter where it lives in your folder structure. ### Creating Tags Type `#` in the editor followed by your tag name. The tag command bar shows existing tags for quick selection, or just keep typing to create a new one. **Nested tags:** Use `/` to create hierarchies: - `#work` - `#work/projects` - `#work/projects/2024` When you create `#work/projects/2024`, Octarine automatically includes the parent tags `#work` and `#work/projects`—so you can filter by any level without creating separate tags. ### Using Tags Click any tag in the editor to search for it. This opens the search drawer with all notes containing that tag. ### Tags View Click the tag icon in the top-right corner to see all tags in your workspace. Each tag shows how many notes reference it. Filter the list by name, or click a tag to search for it across your workspace. ### Renaming Tags Across a Workspace Open the Tags View, hover over a tag, and click the pencil icon. Enter the new name, press `Enter`, then confirm the rename. You can also double-click a tag to edit it. Renaming changes every matching inline tag and `tags` frontmatter value in the workspace's Markdown files, including templates. Nested tags move with their parent: renaming `#work` to `#office` also changes `#work/projects` to `#office/projects`. When editing a nested tag, enter a single name to keep it under the same parent. Enter a complete path containing `/` to move that tag and its descendants to another branch. If a frontmatter list already contains the destination tag, Octarine removes the duplicate.
