Command Bar

Find notes and dates, run actions, and move around the app

The Command Bar combines note search, natural-language dates, navigation, and context-sensitive actions.

Open the Command Bar

Pull down from the top of a page. A Search for anything pill follows the gesture; release after the haptic tap to open it.

The gesture stays out of the way when a nested list is already scrolled or you are working with a text selection in the editor.

The Search notes, actions… field searches three kinds of results at once:

  • Notes by filename. With an empty query, the most recently opened notes appear first.
  • Dates from phrases such as tomorrow, next Friday, or January 2027.
  • Actions available in the current workspace and screen.

Selecting a date opens or creates its daily note.

Actions

Git Sync

For an on-device Git workspace with a remote:

  • Pull Changes downloads remote changes without uploading local work.
  • Sync Now commits local changes, integrates the remote branch, and pushes when needed.

Current Note

When a note is open, actions can include Delete, Duplicate, Pin or Unpin, Make note read-only or editable, Copy Content, and Move to Folder. Daily notes, weekly notes, and templates omit actions that do not apply to them.

Open Random Note is available whenever the workspace contains regular notes.

Create

  • Quick Capture to Inbox
  • New Note
  • New Note in This Folder when browsing a subfolder
  • New Folder
  • Open today's daily note
  • Go to Library
  • Search in Notes
  • Go to Tags, Properties, Templates, Attachments, or Settings

Workspace and App

Switch Workspace appears when another workspace is available and opens a submenu of workspaces. About opens app version, feedback, and community information.

Actions such as Move to Folder and Switch Workspace open a second list. Use the back arrow at the top to return to the main Command Bar.
