Share Sheet
Capture links, text, images, and files from other iPhone apps into Octarine
Octarine's iOS share extension lets you send content from Safari, Photos, Files, and other apps directly to your Inbox or today's Daily note without first opening Octarine.
Open Octarine from the Share Sheet
- In another app, select a link, text, image, or file and tap Share.
- Choose Octarine in the row of apps.
- If Octarine is not visible, scroll to More, tap Edit, and add Octarine to your favorites.
The Add to Octarine sheet shows a preview of what will be saved. Tap Close to cancel or Save to hand the capture to the main app.
Choose a Destination
Use the segmented control at the top of the sheet:
- Inbox creates a new Inbox capture. You can edit its title and select one or more of the capture tags configured in Settings → Inbox.
- Daily appends the shared content to today's Daily note. Turn on Timestamp before capture to add the capture time immediately before the appended content.
The share extension uses the most recently active Octarine workspace. Open or switch to the intended workspace in Octarine before sharing sensitive or work-specific material.
Sharing Links and Web Pages
When you share a web page, Octarine uses the page title when available and formats the URL as a Markdown link.
Turn on Extract data to fetch and preview page information such as its title, site, author, publication date, description, and excerpt. When readable page content is available, Octarine places that extracted content into the capture and records useful source metadata with it. If extraction fails, the original link is still saved.
Review the preview before saving. Some sites block extraction, require a login, or render their content with scripts, so the captured result can vary.
Sharing Text
Selected text is placed in the Content field, where you can edit it before saving. If the shared text includes a URL, Octarine keeps the text and link together and may also offer Extract data.
Sharing Images and Files
Shared images and files appear as attachment previews. Octarine copies them into the active workspace and inserts references into the Inbox capture or Daily note.
The extension previews up to six attachments and shows a count for any additional items. Keep Octarine open after tapping Save while large files finish moving into the workspace.
If a Capture Does Not Appear
- Open Octarine once and confirm that a workspace is active.
- Return to the source app and share again.
- Check both the Inbox and today's Daily note in the active workspace.
- For large attachments, reopen Octarine and leave it in the foreground until the handoff completes.
