Share a Note
Publish a note to the web and manage its public link from iPhone
Octarine can publish an individual note to a public web page. Anyone with the link can read it until you stop sharing it or its expiration date is reached.
You need an active Octarine license and an internet connection to publish or update a note.
Publish a Note
- Open the note and tap the sliders button in the editor header.
- Choose Share Note. The first time, review the introduction and continue to the sharing form.
- Confirm the public title and optionally add a summary.
- Choose whether the public page should show note properties.
- Review the displayed expiration date and tap Create link.
Octarine uploads the current Markdown and supported images referenced by the note, then gives you a public URL. You can copy it, open it in the browser, or use the iOS share sheet to send it.

Update a Shared Note
Publishing is a snapshot, not live sync. Changes you make after publishing do not appear on the public page until you open Manage Sharing and choose Save changes.
From the same sheet you can change the title, summary, and property visibility. You can also copy, open, or share the URL again. The link keeps the expiration date chosen when it was created.
Stop Sharing
Open the note's options, choose Manage Sharing, then choose Stop sharing and confirm. The public URL stops serving the note, but the local Markdown file remains untouched.
Sharing Defaults
Open Settings → Sharing to configure:
- Identity: display name and whether your author name appears.
- Defaults: link expiration and whether properties are shown.
- Appearance: light theme, dark theme, and font for public pages.
Expiration choices are 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, or 90 days; the default is 30 days. The setting applies when a new link is created, so choose the intended default before publishing.
The signed-in license email identifies your sharing account but is not shown publicly as the display name.
Private Information
A shared link is public to anyone who receives it. Review the note, its visible properties, and linked images before publishing. Private files that are not referenced by the note are not uploaded.
